H.E Minister Olushegun ADJADI BAKARI

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Benin

Olushegun (Shegun) Adjadi Bakari, born on October 24, 1979, in Pointe-Noire, Congo, is a citizen of the Republic of Benin and has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs since June 2023, following his role as Minister-Advisor in charge of Investments. He studied at the National Institute of Economics (ENEAM) in Benin, where he became the youngest Student Union President in 1999, and later earned a degree in Mathematics from the University of Lille and a Master's in Finance from SKEMA Business School. 

With over 18 years of experience in finance, he worked at Société Générale Group in Paris, where he served as Director of Structured Export Finance for Africa, before becoming CEO of SPIRO, Africa's largest e-mobility platform. Prior to his ministerial role, he advised the President of Togo from 2016 to 2021 on major projects. As Minister of Foreign Affairs, he aims to implement 4D diplomacy (Availability, Diaspora, Digital, and Development) to enhance Benin's development and diversify its alliances. He is fluent in English and Yoruba, with French as his native language.
