Jeremy Awori

Jeremy Awori is a renowned financial executive, currently serving as the Group CEO of Ecobank. With a career spanning almost three decades across four continents, Awori has been instrumental in driving financial innovation and transformation across Africa. Named as one the of 100 most influential leaders in Africa by African Business in 2024, Awori is a champion of pan-African financial integration and passionate about the gender agenda. Before joining Ecobank, Awori served as Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Kenya, where he led strategic initiatives that strengthened the bank’s market position and enhanced financial inclusion. Prior to that, he held a number of executive leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank, including CEO of Standard Chartered Tanzania and Regional Sales and Performance Director for the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. His tenure in these roles was marked by groundbreaking advancements in retail and corporate banking, reinforcing his reputation as a visionary strategist and industry pioneer. 

He is a Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Institute and African Leadership Initiative and holds an MBA from McGill University and a BSc in Pharmacy from Manchester University.
