George Asamani
Managing Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, Project Management Institute
George Asamani is the Managing Director for PMI’s Sub-Saharan Africa region. He is responsible for scaling the impact of PMI in Africa through chapter enablement, organizational development, sector partnerships and social impact. He works with PMI’s vast network to engage with corporate and educational institutions - offering solutions that develop skills and drive efficiency.
George is also co-founder and entrepreneur mentor for London Business School’s Accel Awards initiative, which supports early stage entrepreneurs in Africa with grants, mentors and access to international markets. He has been a trainer and mentor for British Council’s Entrepreneurial Africa programs in Sudan, Ghana, and the UK, as well as having built a digital media distribution company. His corporate experience includes leading sales growth for tech firms such as Apposit in Ethiopia and Infosys in the UK, particularly in the financial services sector where he built sales teams and delivered FinTech, IT Security and Big Data solutions.
George holds a BSc Physics from Kings College London and an MBA from London Business School. Under Asamani's leadership, the region has consistently surpassed growth expectations by working closely with the community to spotlight the persistent execution gap and emphasize the solutions needed to bridge it. This approach has enhanced efficiency, accountability, and success for key stakeholders, including governments, investors, and organizations, while elevating the pivotal role of project management in advancing sustainable growth across Sub-Saharan Africa.
