Ernestine White-Mifetu
Sills Foundation Curator of African Art, Brooklyn Museum
Ernestine White-Mifetu is the Sills Foundation Curator of African Art at Brooklyn Museum. Her professional practice spans two decades and has focused on the education, development and advancement of creatives on and of the African continent. She has held directorial, curatorial and administrative positions within various cultural institutions in South Africa.
Ms. White-Mifetu’s curatorial focus is centered around 3 key areas:
- To present to the global stage the diversity of histories and lived realities, talent and creativity that is within the African continent (past, present and future)
- To create opportunities for artists from the African continent to expand their practice and visibility through exhibitions along with diverse forms of public engagements.
- To create opportunities for the cross-pollination of ideas with creatives from the African continent and the diaspora.
